What are our holidays like?

We strive to offer a balance of independence and good company. You don’t have to do everything with a group, but there’s people around if you need them. You won’t be stuck on a coach with people for the duration, and it’s not an 18-30s holiday either.

You have the freedom to make it whatever kind of holiday you want. Between yourself, the other guests, and the host, you could lay all day on the beach alone with a good book, make arrangements to take a group or solo trip out and about, or have a great conversation over a cocktail and dance the night away in a bar. It’s entirely up to you.

What does a Kindred Traveller Host do?

Your host makes sure that everything runs smoothly, from checking out your accommodation to making you feel as welcome and relaxed as possible. A host is also an ice-breaker, a walking encyclopaedia, a wine waiter, a conversation-starter, an entertainer and – perhaps above all – a friend when needed.

They are available throughout your break, and they are highly visible at dinner and drinks. A Kindred Traveller host is more than happy to recommend and to book sight-seeing excursions, water-sports, activities and local bike or car hire. But if all you want to do is work on your tan, then you do that! If you’re happy, we’re happy.

What’s included in the price?

Prices are in Pound Sterling and – of course – are per person. In 90% of holidays the price shown includes accommodation, breakfast every day, and an evening meal with drinks (all evening meals for short breaks. Five evening meals on week long breaks). With very different holidays on offer, you need to read the individual holiday description to see what is included for each one, but generally we provide:

  • Transfers from and to the Airport at your destination
  • A standard double or twin room for your sole use
  • Breakfast every day
  • Dinner on all or most of your evenings (check the specific break for details)
  • The services of a Kindred Traveller host
  • Some holidays include a free orientation tour: again, please check the individual holiday descriptions

Can I fly from my local airport?

Yes, if it is available. Your choice of flights is entirely up to you, and we’ll offer any advice and assistance in selecting one that fits the timing of your holiday.

Can Kindred Traveller book my flights?

Not at this moment in time, but we’re working on it. At the moment, flights are so varied and inexpensive, that we often find that it’s easier and cheaper for our travellers to book direct. However, if you give us a call, we can talk through the timing of your holiday, and help you search for what’s most appropriate. Please let us know the details of your flights, so that we can arrange for your transfers at the beginning and end of your trip.

What happens at meal times?

We know from bitter experience how awkward it is to eat alone, and it’s particularly difficult when you’re vegan. A book is a useful shield, but hardly a good conversationalist. This is why all our solo holidays include dinner as well as breakfast most/every day of the week.

All of the hotels we use offer vegan breakfast options either off the menu, or as part of a buffet. For apartment accommodation, where there isn’t an in-house eating area, we provide you with vegan breakfast items in your kitchen area, which you can eat at your leisure on your balcony. Lunch is not included, because you may well be off exploring.

We come together for dinner every evening, except on the host’s days off, when you can sample one of the local restaurants with your fellow travellers. Your host will be more than happy to organise this for you. We usually sit together at a large table, with your choice of drink plus bottled water, as well as good food and conversation. Since people do different things during the day, there are plenty of stories to share and plans for the next day to discuss, so dinner often goes on for hours.

Please see exact holiday details, to see what food and drinks are included with that holiday. As a general rule, all breakfasts are included, and all evening meals for short breaks, or five evening meals for week long holidays.

What are the meals like?

Most of the hotels we use offer vegan options for breakfast, either a la carte, or as part of their wider breakfast buffet. For those that do not, and for apartment accommodation, we provide you with a packaged vegan breakfast in your room for you to eat on your balcony at your leisure.

For dinner we will eat at local restaurants who specifically cater to vegans. In some cases, these menus have been created just for us, in locations that had previously never catered to vegans before! Kindred Traveller have worked directly with these restaurants to provide variety, and ensure that the ingredients are entirely suitable for vegans.

What are Kindred Travellers like?

Our guests are as varied and interesting as can be. We aim to have a balance of the sexes, though women are often more confident about travelling alone than men.

Asides from having veganism in common, in any group there is every chance that you will meet interesting, happy people with similar interests to your own – as well as people with completely different interests – which makes for stimulating conversation!

I’m not vegan, can I come?

Whether you’re ‘entirely’ vegan, in transition, or just contemplating a plant-based diet, everyone is welcome. As long as you’re happy to eat entirely vegan food with us, and are supportive of that lifestyle approach, we’d love to see you.
