Devon is a stunning county of great contrasts, with two beautiful coastlines, two National Parks and five official Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We’ll be based in Teignmouth, staying directly above the beach, with views out to sea. Teignmouth has a burgeoning Vegan culture, with vegan cafes and a bakery having opened up in the town within the last year. Just across the river is the village of Shaldon, which has two beaches (one accessed through 'Smugglers' tunnel), and the quickest way to cross the river is by the small foot ferry.
Just 20 minutes away by train or car lies the Cathedral City of Exeter, with multiple vegan and vegetarian cafes and restaurants, as well as a newly opened vegan patisserie, The Lin Den, and vegan supermarket, Seasons.
We recommend starting your holiday by train rather than car, if you can. The train journey between Exeter and the town is an experience in itself, as it takes you alongside the sea wall and glorious views.

At Kindred Traveller, we always make connections with local animal rescues and welfare charities. Below you can find links to details on what they're doing in the area, and what you can do to help if you so wish. If you wish to make any donations, feel free to leave this with the host, who will ensure they reach the rescues.
Cats Protection, Teignbridge & Torbay Branch are the local Branch of Cats Protection covering the area. They would particularly welcome donations of second hand clothes or items to sell within their local shop, based within Teignmouth itself. Alternatively, why not take a look and see if anything takes your fancy!
Animals in Distress take in and rehome unwanted and abandoned pets in the South Devon area. They would welcome donations of newspapers, towels, washing powder (non-bio), and toilet or kitchen roll tubes.
