As a UK based tour operator and travel agent, we comply with strict consumer protection legislation. There are several ways that this can be achieved, such as membership of The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), or The Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), or working with a service that holds consumer’s money in a Trust.
Since starting Kindred Traveller, we have been members of Protected Trust Services, which is a travel trust scheme designed for niche tour operators such as ourselves.
HOW PROTECTED TRUST SERVICES WORKS
The PTS system is straightforward. When you pay for your tour or holiday, your money does not go into Kindred Traveller’s bank account. Instead, your money is paid direct into a PTS trust account, which is administered by independent trustees (comprising of British Chartered Accountants). Kindred Traveller receives your payment from PTS after your holiday has completed, so if something goes very wrong, or we go bust, your payment is safe and can be recovered.
The only exception to this would be where we use a third party supplier to create a bespoke holiday. We only use travel providers that are covered by their own ABTA and ATOL membership and as such, your funds are also still protected under their schemes. Either way, your money is safe.
If you’d like to verify our membership of the Protected Trust Services scheme, or have any questions about how it works, the PTS team will be happy to answer your questions. You can find more information here, or call PTS on +44 (0)20 7190 9988
Our PTS membership no. is 5383
